Lorraine Reyna,Olivares Obituary, Death;- The individuals who lost their lives in a tragic mass shooting at a bar in Hammond, Indiana, early Sunday morning have been named, while charges against a person of interest remain forthcoming.

Law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire at Portside Pub, situated at 1516 Indianapolis Blvd, around 4 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the entrance peppered with bullet holes and found five individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds inside.

According to police, two victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while three others were transported to nearby hospitals, with two in critical condition.

The Lake County, Indiana Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as Lorraine Reyna, 58, and Paul Olivares, 25. The identities of the three injured individuals have not been disclosed.

Reyna was described by her sister, who preferred to remain off-camera, as having a nurturing nature. Her sister expressed that it was not surprising Reyna attempted to mediate the situation. “They would do anything for anybody,” Jernigan stated. “Lori cared for others more than she cared for herself. She would reach out to anyone in need.”

Authorities indicated that the shooting seemed to stem from a domestic dispute. Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. noted that the incident began in the parking lot adjacent to the bar.

McDermott remarked that Reyna and Olivares were attempting to resolve the conflict when they were shot. “Two people lost their lives last night, and they shouldn’t have lost their lives,” he stated. “They were good Samaritans, and that is truly tragic.”

Additionally, McDermott mentioned that the bar where the shooting occurred was supposed to be closed, as it is illegal for establishments to operate past 3 a.m. He indicated that this issue would be addressed on Monday. Charges against the person of interest are anticipated to be filed on Monday.
