Lori Schmidt Obituary, Death; – A 56-year-old woman was killed in a crash on state Route 28 in Ross County on Friday afternoon, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers were called to Route 28 near Route 41 in Buckskin Township around 1 p.m. on a report of a two-vehicle crash.
OSHP said a 2012 Nissan Versa was driving westbound on Route 28 when it rear-ended a 2023 Can-Am Spyder, a three-wheeled motorcycle, traveling in the same direction. The passenger of the Spyder, identified as Lori Schmidt, of Orient, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Spyder was flown to Wexner Medical Center, and the driver of the Versa was transported to Adena Greenfield Medical Center. Their conditions are unknown. Route 28 was temporarily shut down for around three and a half hours before being reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
