The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Loretta Canter-Andrews, a resident of Accokeek, who was struck and killed on Indian Head Highway near Farmington Road.
At approximately 9:50 p.m. on November 22, patrol officers responded to reports of a pedestrian collision. Upon their arrival, they discovered Canter-Andrews in the roadway, suffering from critical injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Canter-Andrews was hit by a driver heading northbound on Indian Head Highway. The driver did not stop to render assistance and fled the scene. Police are diligently working to identify both the driver and the vehicle involved in this tragic event.
