Lillian Marlene Nagy Obituary, Death; – As the search persists for the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run incident in North York on Wednesday night, the victim has been identified by her husband.
John Moran stated that he and his wife, Lillian Marlene Nagy, were departing from a friend’s residence on their e-scooters near Sheppard Avenue West and Bathurst Street, around 9 p.m. As Nagy traversed the intersection of Goddard Street and Codsell Avenue, Moran reported that she was struck.
Nagy, aged 64, was declared dead at the scene. A small white sedan was observed leaving the area, but it has not yet been found. Kristine Suarez, a local resident, recounted the incident in an interview with CTV News Toronto.
“It was dreadful to witness because she was thrown quite a distance from where she was hit, indicating that the speed was definitely over 40 or 50 km/h. However, this is a peaceful neighborhood; drivers should at least maintain a speed of 20 to 30 km/h,” she remarked.
Both Nagy and Moran were employed by the Toronto District School Board and had only recently retired after three decades of service. The couple owned a residence in Malindi, Kenya, where they had been assisting children in the village for the past 20 years.
