Leslie Karel Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost their life has been identified as Leslie Karel, aged 66, from Richland, as reported by Benton County Coroner Bill Leach.
A pedestrian was hit and fatally injured by a vehicle that authorities suspect was operated by a man impaired by drugs or alcohol in Richland late on Saturday night.
The incident occurred just east of the Safeway shopping center on George Washington Way shortly before the stroke of midnight.
Crews from Richland Fire and Emergency Services discovered that a 66-year-old man had succumbed after seemingly being struck by a vehicle.
The 40-year-old driver, whom investigators believe was accountable for the accident, appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and has been taken into custody at the Benton County Jail on charges of vehicular homicide.
