Leonardo Leyva,Adriana Bencomo Obituary, Death; Teen, 16, is accused of slaughtering his parents and teenage siblings then drunkenly calling 911 to confess

Leonardo Leyva,Adriana Bencomo Obituary, Death; – A 16-year-old male has been charged with the murder of his parents and two siblings in New Mexico, following a drunken call to 911 in which he confessed to the crime. Diego Leyva faces four counts of first-degree murder and has been processed as an adult after allegedly shooting his family members before surrendering on Saturday.

According to investigators, Leyva, a resident of Belén in Valencia County, was found to be “extremely intoxicated” when law enforcement arrived to apprehend him in the early hours of Sunday. A handgun was discovered on the kitchen table at the scene.

Upon entering the residence, deputies encountered four deceased individuals, as stated by the police. The victims have been identified as Leonardo Leyva, 42, Adriana Bencomo, 35, and their teenage sons Adrian and Alexander Leyva, aged 16 and 14, all of whom suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Authorities reported that Leyva was taken into custody “without incident” and subsequently admitted to a local hospital for detoxification before being transferred to a juvenile detention facility in Albuquerque, located approximately 30 miles north of Belén.

Investigators are conducting interviews to ascertain the motive behind this tragic incident and plan to forward the case to the district attorney’s office for prosecution once their investigation is complete. As of 6:15 AM on Monday, state police investigators remained at the scene, processing evidence and engaging with local residents.

Adriana was recognized as an active volunteer firefighter, as noted by the Valencia County Fire Department, which expressed its condolences in a tribute shared on social media.
