Lebohang Patric Ntuli Obituary, Death; – A 72-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday following a violent property dispute. He faces allegations of murdering a 66-year-old tenant who was renting a unit on a property near Hartebeespoort Dam.

After fleeing the incident, the elderly man was located nearby and is now charged with murder. Dispute over utilities The conflict between the landlord and his tenant originated from issues regarding water and electricity. On Sunday afternoon, the tenant approached the landlord to express concerns about the non-functioning utilities in his unit.

What began as a heated discussion escalated into violence when the landlord retrieved a firearm from his residence. It is alleged that he shot the tenant in the upper body before fleeing the scene. Bystanders transported the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

“The suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation in the Skeerport area,” stated North West police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda Funani.

“The police also seized a firearm, which will undergo ballistics testing,” Funani added. In a separate case, authorities are seeking assistance in identifying suspects involved in the murder of a bus driver in Botshabelo.

The deceased, identified as 39-year-old Lebohang Patric Ntuli, returned home in his vehicle during the early hours of Sunday morning. While waiting for his children to open the door, he was attacked by an unidentified gunman.

“He attempted to flee while calling for help, but tragically, his assailant pursued him and fatally shot him a few houses away from his residence,” confirmed Free State police spokesperson Sergeant Sinah Mpakane.

A murder investigation has been initiated, and anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact their nearest police station promptly. Recent crime statistics for the first quarter of the 2024/25 financial year indicate a 20.3% rise in reported murder cases in North West.
