Lazavious Young Obituary, Death; – Two individuals suspected of firing shots into a vehicle on Friday night in D’Iberville were apprehended following the death of the driver and the subsequent crash of the car into a residence, according to police reports.
Lazavious Young, 34, from Gulfport, succumbed to a gunshot wound, as stated by Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer.
Officers responding to gunfire reports around 10 p.m. Friday near Octave Street and Dina Drive discovered a damaged vehicle that had collided with a house and came to a halt in a neighbor’s yard, as indicated in a police department news release.
Authorities found Young deceased in the driver’s seat. Two suspects were arrested: Amonte Daquan Robinson, 20, from St. Martin, and Jaleyn Rayshawn Fielder, 17, from D’Iberville.
Officers located Robinson and Fielder in the backyard of a nearby residence after witnesses informed police that they observed two individuals fleeing from the scene of the crash, according to the news release. The suspects are facing charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and shooting into a motor vehicle, with total bail set at $1.15 million.
D’Iberville Police Chief Marty Griffin stated that Fielder will be charged as an adult and declined to provide further details regarding the armed robbery charges.
