Layne W. Leitner,Kyle R. Orloske Obituary, – On Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 2:01 a.m., Burnett County Dispatch received a notification from OnStar regarding a vehicle accident near 28624 E. Bass Lake Rd in Oakland Township. Deputies arrived shortly thereafter and discovered a single-vehicle accident involving three individuals.

Tragically, both the driver and the front passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has been identified as Layne W. Leitner, a 25-year-old resident of Bloomington, MN, while the front passenger was identified as Kyle R. Orloske, aged 34, from White Bear Lake, MN.

A third occupant was found trapped within the vehicle and was subsequently extricated. This surviving passenger was airlifted to a hospital by Air Care. The Wisconsin State Patrol has been called in to conduct a crash reconstruction. Preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle traveled approximately 120 feet off the roadway before colliding with a tree.

It is suspected that alcohol may have played a role in this incident. The investigation is ongoing. The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office extends its gratitude to North Memorial Ambulance, North Air Care, Webster Fire, St. Croix Tribal Police, and the Wisconsin State Patrol for their assistance.
