Laurentino Serrano-Juarez Arrested; – A woman from Florida is currently battling for her life after a car accident in Palmetto that resulted in the death of her unborn child. The Palmetto Police Department reported that officers arrived at the scene of the crash at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, located on the DeSoto Bridge.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Laurentino Serrano-Juarez, was operating a GMC SUV when he veered across the lanes and collided with a sedan traveling in the opposite direction. The sedan was driven by a 28-year-old pregnant woman, who was subsequently transported to the hospital in critical condition; unfortunately, her unborn child did not survive.
Serrano-Juarez was also taken to the hospital but was later released into police custody. According to the Palmetto police, the 31-year-old driver is facing charges that include DUI manslaughter and operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license. The authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the woman involved in the incident.
