Latasha Campbell,Jeremiah Jefferies Obituary, Death; – A couple from Milwaukee and their dog were identified as victims in a tragic accident that occurred in Milwaukee on Sunday, November 16.
As reported by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office, 38-year-old Latasha Campbell and 39-year-old Jeremiah Jefferies lost their lives in the incident near the intersection of Appleton and Fairmount.
According to Milwaukee police, the speeding vehicle in which the couple was traveling collided with a tree and subsequently caught fire.
Betty Goner, a friend of Campbell, spoke with CBS 58’s Kathryn Merck while family members gathered at the couple’s residence in Milwaukee’s St. Joseph neighborhood.
“Nobody thinks it’s real,” Goner expressed. “We have such lively people, and they’re just gone. And it was just so tragic the way they had to go.”
Nyrel Smith, who witnessed the crash outside of his grandmother’s home, mentioned that he is unfortunately accustomed to the presence of speeding vehicles in the area.
“They were trapped in the car, and there was a lot of smoke and everything,” Smith recounted. “There’s a lot of speeding. Especially in the summertime, they treat it like a racetrack.”
Family members revealed that Campbell had one daughter, while Jefferies had both a son and a daughter. Goner noted that the couple was in the process of dropping off Jefferies’ son at the time of the accident.
