Lainana Green,Eh Cress Moo Found; – Authorities have located the remains of three teenage girls who disappeared last month while fishing along the Missouri River in Nebraska.
The bodies were discovered in the river in north Omaha, with one found on Saturday night and the other two on Tuesday morning, as confirmed by a public information officer from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to HuffPost on Thursday. Lah Tray Moo, 18, Lainana Green, 18, and Eh Cress Moo, 12, were fishing near the river on April 15 with a fourth girl when three of them entered the water and began to struggle, as reported by KETV. A 13-year-old girl who was with them was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
According to Public Information Officer Spencer Head, they likely lost a phone or fishing pole and went into the river to retrieve it, only to be swept away by the current. He noted that this section of the Missouri River is particularly hazardous due to its strong undertow. Lainana’s aunt, Nichelle Griffy, expressed her heartbreak but also relief at having closure, stating, ‘We are thankful to have all three girls physically with us now.’ Community advocate Chrome Louis, who assisted in the search efforts, emphasized the need for public awareness regarding the river’s dangers, saying, ‘I learned a lot about the river that I didn’t even know.
The average person is unaware of how truly dangerous this river is.’ The Omaha Fire Department extended its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the girls in a Facebook post announcing their recovery, stating, ‘The loss of these young lives has affected our entire community, and our thoughts remain with you now and in the days to come.’
