Lahcen Elmguielle Obituary, Death; – A tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning when a man lost his life and several individuals, including two children, sustained injuries in a fire at an apartment building in Jersey City. According to officials, the blaze ignited in a second-floor unit of the Summit Avenue structure around 3 a.m.
Two adults and two children were discovered unconscious in a bedroom. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office reported that 59-year-old Lahcen Elmguielle succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead prior to 8 a.m. Additionally, a 40-year-old woman, an 8-year-old girl, and a 6-year-old girl were also present in the unit and are currently in critical condition at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
Furthermore, a resident from the third floor received treatment for minor injuries and has since been released from the hospital. Three firefighters were treated for burns, while another firefighter received care for smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross is assisting 18 individuals who were displaced due to the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
