Khamya Ferrell Obituary, Death; – A man is facing charges of murder following the death of a teenage girl who was struck by a stray bullet while inside an apartment in District Heights in May. As reported by the Prince George’s County Police Department, 19-year-old Chance Waters is alleged to have murdered 14-year-old Khamya Ferrell.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on May 31. Upon arrival at the 6600 block of Atwood Street, officers discovered Khamya and a woman inside the apartment, both suffering from gunshot wounds. A third victim, a man, was found injured outside the premises.
All three individuals were transported to a local hospital. While the two adult victims survived their injuries, Khamya was pronounced dead five days later. Authorities do not believe that Khamya was the intended target of the shooting; she was reportedly struck by a stray bullet as the assailants aimed at another group involved in an ongoing dispute.
Subsequent investigations led to the identification of Waters as one of four suspects linked to the fatal shooting. He has been arrested and charged with both first and second-degree murder and is currently in custody as detectives continue their efforts to locate and apprehend the other suspects.
