Kevin Powell ARRESTED; – On Thursday, November 21, the Louisville police department announced the arrest of an individual in relation to a fatal double shooting that resulted in one death and one injury at a bar located in the Russell neighborhood.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on November 17 in the parking lot of Club Cedar, situated off South 26th Street. Upon their arrival, the Louisville Metro police discovered two men who had sustained gunshot wounds.
According to an arrest citation, 60-year-old Kevin Powell of Louisville was engaged in a dispute with one of the victims when the situation escalated, leading to the victim pushing Powell. Powell is alleged to have drawn a firearm and shot the victim multiple times, resulting in the victim’s death at the scene.
The second victim was hit by gunfire in the leg and suffered a graze wound to the head. He was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for medical treatment and is expected to recover.
The shooting incident was recorded on video, and the second victim, who was acquainted with Powell, identified him to the authorities as the shooter. Powell faces charges of murder, assault, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
