Kelli Schmitz Obituary, Death;- The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the 14-year-old who lost her life in a collision on Tuesday as Kelli Schmitz, a resident of Jesup. The incident occurred at approximately 7:13 a.m. in the 8000 block of Poyner Road, involving a Jeep Cherokee and a Pontiac Sunfire.
The driver of the Jeep managed to exit the vehicle before it was completely consumed by flames and was subsequently transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Unfortunately, Schmitz was trapped inside the Pontiac Sunfire when emergency responders arrived. She was taken to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
