Keith A Walker Obituary, Death; – One of the three individuals who lost their lives in a collision on Wednesday in the southern suburbs has been named.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:31 p.m. near the intersection of 152nd Street and Park Avenue in Harvey, as reported by officials. This location is adjacent to Thornton Township High School, where emergency personnel conducted an investigation that lasted around eight hours.
As stated by CSX Transportation, a vehicle disregarded the lowered crossing gates and collided with the side of a freight train. All three occupants of the vehicle succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident, according to a spokesperson.
The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Keith A. Walker from Blue Island, Illinois. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the train crew, as confirmed by CSX.
The circumstances leading up to the incident and the reasons behind the driver’s decision to ignore the crossing gates remain unclear. CSX is collaborating with the Illinois State Police and the Harvey Police Department to investigate the matter. While Dolton police were also present at the scene, CSX indicated that they are not conducting an investigation into the incident.
