Keisha Warran Obituary, Death; – A second suspect involved in a fatal shooting that occurred last month appeared before a judge on Friday, facing charges of murder and aggravated assault. Keyandre Lejuan Benjamin, aged 21, was apprehended on Wednesday, June 18, by members of the HPD Narcotics Tactical Team.

He is the second individual to be charged in relation to the deadly shooting of Keisha Warran, aged 37, and the injury of her friend on May 6. This incident took place in a parking lot of a strip center located on Long Point Road near Woodvine. Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting were revealed during Benjamin’s initial court appearance.

Prosecutors indicated that the victims had visited an apartment to sell drugs to Benjamin’s aunt. The man reported that the aunt was behaving “erratically,” prompting him and Warren to leave without completing the drug sale.

As per the prosecutors, Benjamin, along with co-defendant Rodney Johnson, the aunt, and her daughter, got into a vehicle and drove approximately half a mile down the road.

“You and Mr. Johnson are both captured on video exiting the vehicle and crossing the street towards where Mr. Tyson and Miss Warren were standing amidst a crowd of other individuals,” the magistrate stated in court. “And either you or both of you discharged firearms, hitting Mr. Tyson and resulting in the death of Miss Warren.”

Warren succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The man, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen, managed to reach a nearby locksmith shop.

The magistrate subsequently set Benjamin’s bond at $500,000 for the murder charge and $250,000 for aggravated assault.

The defense attorney requested a bond of $5,000, arguing that Benjamin has no prior criminal record, is employed, and resides with his grandmother.

Johnson, aged 23, was arrested earlier this month.

It remains uncertain whether the women present in the vehicle on the night of the shooting will face any charges.
