Kanisa Love Obituary, Death; – A man, who detectives indicated had confessed to the murder of a woman, appeared in court on Friday morning in Miami-Dade County.
Deputies discovered Kanisa Love lying on the ground beneath the elevated Metrorail ramp on November 15 at 8099 South Dixie Highway, according to records.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel declared Love deceased, and a medical examiner determined it was a homicide, attributing the cause of death to “blunt force trauma to the head,” as per the records.
Love had recently celebrated her 32nd birthday on November 7. During the investigation, M-DCSO detectives reported the discovery of surveillance footage depicting “an altercation” in which a man was seen pushing Love before she fell.
Detectives identified Jorge Gomez as a suspect and took him into custody for questioning on Thursday at the M-DSO homicide bureau, where he confessed, according to the arrest report related to the case.
Gomez was on probation until February 19, 2026, following his conviction and arrest for grand theft in 2023 in Miami, as indicated by court records.
Gomez has a criminal history in Miami-Dade that dates back to 2014, with cases involving domestic violence, burglary, cocaine, and marijuana.
Deputies apprehended Gomez shortly after 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, and correctional deputies processed him at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to records.
Gomez is facing a charge of second-degree murder.
