Jvoine D Elow Jr Obituary, Death; New Orleans student identified as 15-year-old killed in shooting

Jvoine D Elow Jr Obituary, Death; – The New Orleans Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy. The deceased has been identified as Jvoine D. Elow Jr., a ninth-grade student at Dr. Martin Luther King Senior High School.

Authorities reported that they received a call regarding the shooting on Monday night at approximately 8:46 p.m., occurring in the 5100 block of Bundy Road. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Elow suffering from at least one gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Elow was actively involved with the Mayor’s Office of Youth and Families and participated in the Pathways Youth Internship Program. In response to this tragic event, the City of New Orleans released a statement:

“It is always heartbreaking when a young life is abruptly ended. My thoughts are with Jvoine, his family, and his friends,” stated Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “The Pathways Youth Internship Program aims to empower young individuals to reach their full potential. This program adopts a comprehensive approach and significantly impacts the lives of youth. Our community must unite and boldly express our opposition to senseless violence.”

“It is not common for a teenager to be murdered in the City of New Orleans,” remarked Asya Howlette, Director of Youth and Families. “As the Director, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Jvoine’s family. The loss of Jvoine serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities faced by many of our young people.

He was actively engaged in our program, which was designed to meet various needs. While we take pride in this initiative, it is evident that more must be done. Let us use this moment to foster connections. Our youth deserve a supportive community to help them navigate their most challenging times.”

“Jvoine approached the Pathways Youth Internship Program with determination and commitment,” noted Kendra Parson, Executive Director of the Pathways Youth Internship Program. “He was driven and excelled in his personal development alongside his peers. Jvoine took the initiative.
