Justin Lemire,Sheila Lemire Obituary, Death; – State police have released the names of the people who died in a motorcycle crash from over the weekend.
State police say a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was being driven by 35-year-old Justin Lemire with 47-year-old Sheila Lemire riding as a passenger when the crash happened at 9:45pm Saturday on County Route 181 in the Town of Clayton.
Police say Lemire was driving the motorcycle westbound in the eastbound lane when it hit a 2014 GMC Terrain ejecting the LaFargeville couple from the motorcycle. They died at the scene, police say. The GMC rolled over and caught fire.
The driver of the GMC is identified as 26-year-old Madison Kahler of Gouverneur. A passenger in the GMC was identified as 37-year-old Eric June of Gouverneur. Both declined medical treatment at the scene. Police say a drug recognition expert evaluated Kahler and there were no signs of impairment.
Another motorcycle, a 2006 Harley-Davidson, was traveling westbound on County Route 181 when, police say, it hit debris from the first crash. 52-year-old Johnathan Heyl of Chaumont was ejected and suffered serious injuries, police say, and was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital.
State police say the investigation continues.
