Julious David Rogers Obituary, Death; – A second individual is now facing a murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in Mansfield last week, according to police reports.
Michael Adrean Spencer, aged 19, was apprehended on Wednesday in relation to the incident. Elijah Hatton, aged 21, was arrested the day following the shooting and remains in custody as of Thursday morning, with bail set at $200,000, according to online records from the Tarrant County jail.
An attorney representing Hatton has not yet responded to requests for comment. It remains unclear whether Spencer has legal representation, as he was not listed in the online jail records on Thursday morning.
The deceased teenager has been identified as Julious David Rogers, as per records from the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. Officers were dispatched for a welfare check shortly after 4:30 p.m. on September 19, in the 800 block of Cutting Horse Drive, located near Lariat Lane and Star Grass Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the teenager unresponsive with a gunshot wound, while residents were performing CPR, according to police.
Personnel from the Mansfield Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter, and the victim was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police reported that any suspects involved in the shooting had fled the scene prior to their arrival. Mansfield detectives conducted an overnight investigation, identifying a suspect vehicle that was later located at an apartment complex in East Dallas.
Hatton was taken into custody by Mansfield SWAT officers on September 20. Both Hatton and Spencer were apprehended without incident, according to police. Authorities have indicated that additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting is still under investigation.
