Julia C Barrett Obituary, Death; – State Police have identified the person struck and killed by a car Saturday evening on I-90 in Rotterdam.
Troopers responded to the westbound lanes of the Thruway just west of Exit 25 for a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian had severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as Julia C. Barrett, 51, of Troy. State Police said Barrett was standing in the travel lane when she was hit. The driver immediately stopped, contacted emergency services and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
Barrett’s vehicle was found on the shoulder of the road near the collision. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Police do not anticipate filing criminal charges, they said.
