Judith Paulsen Obituary, Death; – A fifth individual has succumbed to injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 that occurred last week on the Southwest Side, as reported by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident took place shortly after 2:45 p.m. on July 17 in the southbound lanes of I-35 near Cassin Road, close to the interchange of I-35 and Loop 410.
The fifth victim has been identified as Judith Paulsen, 79, according to information provided to KSAT by the medical examiner’s office. Two additional victims, Rosalio Aguilera, 69, and Jose Guerra, 50, were named on Friday.

Currently, the identities of the other two victims remain undisclosed.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus indicated that the crash was initiated when a stolen white Chevrolet Camaro collided with a small bus towing a trailer.

The bus subsequently struck a guardrail and was then impacted by an 18-wheeler, as detailed in a preliminary report from SAPD released on Friday. This collision resulted in the bus rolling onto its passenger side, leading to the ejection of several individuals.

McManus reported that four individuals, one of whom was armed with an assault rifle, fled from the Camaro and the crash site. However, SAPD’s report noted that “an unconfirmed number of individuals” exited the Camaro, without specifying whether any of them were armed.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the individuals who fled have not yet been located, according to police.

SAPD confirmed that two individuals lost their lives at the scene. The chief mentioned that two of the deceased were “senior adults.”

The San Antonio Fire Department reported that eight individuals sustained life-threatening injuries, while 13 others were admitted to the hospital with minor injuries.

McManus remarked that the ages of those injured ranged from young children to older adults.

In a post on X on Friday, University Health announced that its staff treated 15 of the patients, with two of them passing away at the hospital on Thursday.

As of Monday, July 21, University Health reported that it continues to treat a child and an adult in “good condition,” along with another adult in “fair condition.”
