Joyce P Backman Obituary, Death;- Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has confirmed the identity of the woman who lost her life in a collision on Charleston Highway in Cayce on December 18. Joyce P. Backman, aged 91 and a resident of Cayce, was declared deceased at a local hospital shortly after the accident, which occurred at 6:03 p.m.
As detailed in a press release, Backman was initially part of a two-vehicle crash; however, as the drivers exited their cars, she was subsequently struck by a third vehicle. Another pedestrian involved in the incident was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the third vehicle did not sustain any injuries and remained at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, conducted by the City of Cayce Police Department in conjunction with the Lexington County Coroner’s office.
