Joshua Monugian Obituary, Death; – A man who was killed in a La Mirada shooting that left another man wounded after they intervened to break up a fight was publicly identified Monday.

The shooting occurred at 3:45 a.m. Sunday in the 14800 block of Steprock Drive, near La Mirada Boulevard and Imperial Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies dispatched to the scene found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. A 34-year-old man, later identified as Joshua Monugian, whose city of residence was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.

A 51-year-old man who was shot in the lower torso and rushed to a hospital was reported to have stable vital signs. The pair had been standing down the street when they saw a man involved in a physical altercation with a woman, authorities said.

“The victims intervened to break up the fight,” according to an LASD statement. “Afterward, as they were walking back to their residence, a vehicle pulled up beside them. The suspect exited the vehicle and fired several rounds, striking both victims.”
