Joshua Jahn Obituary, Death; – Two days following an incident where a shooter positioned on a rooftop opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Dallas, authorities have reported the discovery of a significant amount of information indicating a deliberate attack on law enforcement, while advocates are urging for the release of more details regarding the victims.
On September 24, three detainees at the facility were shot; one was fatally wounded and two others sustained critical injuries, according to officials. Fortunately, no ICE agents or other law enforcement personnel were harmed.
The incident appears to reflect a failure of the suspect’s intentions, as authorities suspect that the goal was to specifically target ICE agents while avoiding any “collateral damage or injury to the detainees,” as stated by Nancy Larson, the acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas.
On September 25, officials identified the suspect as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, but they have not disclosed the identities of the three detainees who were shot. It was previously reported that Jahn succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities indicated that an unspent shell casing located near Jahn’s body bore the inscription “ANTI-ICE,” and his writings expressed a desire to instill “real terror” in ICE agents.
A small vigil held on the evening of September 25 called for the release of information and greater recognition of the victims of the shooting, all of whom were detainees.
Here is what we know about the shooting and the ongoing investigation:
