Jose Luna-Altamirano Obituary, Death; – The Jasper County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a bicyclist who tragically lost his life on Saturday night in Hardeeville. Coroner Willie P. Aiken reported that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Church Road in Hardeeville, involving a motor vehicle collision.
Jose Luna-Altamirano, aged 46, was cycling eastbound on Church Road when he was struck from behind by a white Chevrolet pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the bicycle lacked lights or reflectors. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The investigation is being conducted by the Jasper County Coroner’s Office in conjunction with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. This incident marks one of three fatalities reported in Jasper County over the weekend. The coroner’s office expressed its heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family and friends of the deceased through a social media post.
