Jose Gregorio Yanez-Nava Obituary, Death; – One of the two people fatally shot outside of an apartment complex on the North West Side has been identified.
On Tuesday, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified one of the victims as 40-year-old Jose Gregorio Yanez-Nava, who died as a result of a gunshot wound to the torso.
Just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to calls for a shooting in progress at an apartment complex on Callaghan Road near I-10.
When police arrived, they found a 26-year-old male lying on the ground at the front entrance to the complex. Upon investigation, police realized he was dead from a gunshot wound.
Upon further investigation, scanning through the complex, police found a second man lying on the ground in front of an apartment door, also with an apparent gunshot wound.
That victim, believed to be Yanez-Nava, was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders.
SAPD says an altercation was heard between multiple people leading up to the shooting. No suspects have been identified.
The investigation is ongoing.
