Johnny Marquez Obituary, Death;- Family members have recognized the individual who was shot and killed during a carjacking attempt in South Los Angeles over the weekend.
According to a spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department, reports regarding a gunshot wound victim were received by dispatch around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, in an alley located near the 8000 block of South Hooper Avenue.
The initial investigation into the event indicated that the two victims were alerted by a car alarm emanating from the alley. Upon their arrival, they discovered three suspects attempting to steal their vehicle. When they confronted the suspects, a fourth individual, positioned at the south entrance of the alley, shot the two men, as stated by the LAPD.
Officers who arrived at the scene found the two men who had been shot, with one being transported to a hospital due to a gunshot wound to the leg. Unfortunately, the other man was pronounced dead at the scene.
While authorities did not immediately disclose the names of either victim, family members of the deceased informed KTLA that he was identified as Johnny Marquez. According to relatives, Marquez was attempting to protect his family during the carjacking when he lost his life. In an interview with KTLA, Marquez’s niece, Cynthia, identified the other victim as Johnny’s son, who is reportedly in recovery.
Furthermore, Marquez is survived by a wife and three daughters.
