Johnathan Wallace,Justin Williams Obituary, Death; – Metro Police detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding two distinct shootings that occurred within a 12-hour timeframe outside a business in South Nashville over the weekend.
Authorities reported that they responded to the Trap Up Studio Lounge on Saturday night, where they discovered 45-year-old Johnathan Wallace deceased from gunshot wounds in his vehicle located in the parking lot.
Less than 12 hours later, law enforcement returned to the same location, where they found 35-year-old Justin Williams also fatally shot. A local resident, known by the nickname ‘Dub,’ commented on the situation, stating, “People get a little intoxicated at the end of the day, might not have anything to do with them. Before I left [for work], police [were] over there, man, so I just went the other way.”
Dub, who works downtown, expressed his surprise at witnessing police activity at the same scene upon his return home Sunday morning. “I didn’t get back until about five, six,” he noted. “Once again, cars back over there, same place.”
Metro Police have made an arrest in connection with the shooting of Williams that occurred on Sunday morning. Twenty-five-year-old Jaden Johnson has been taken into custody regarding this homicide.
“It’s really crazy though man, this is really a quiet neighborhood, so we really don’t get that much action out here like that,” Dub remarked. “Guns protect you, but if you use them for the wrong purpose, then you get things like this.”
While police believe the two shootings are not connected, detectives continue to seek motives for each incident. This marks the fourth homicide outside the studio and lounge in the past three years. “I care about people with guns because I understand why, but also there are people that have guns that don’t know what they’re doing with them,” Dub added.
We have reached out to the studio and lounge for their perspective on the shootings. They announced via social media on Sunday morning that they would be closed for the day “in light of recent events.”
