John Phillip Jr Obituary, Death; – The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a 66-year-old man who tragically lost his life on May 30 in a house fire located in Mifflin Township.
John Phillip, Jr. was found deceased within a residence on the 2600 block of Baughman Avenue. Mifflin Township Fire Chief Brian Dunlevy reported that neighbors had alerted authorities to the presence of fire and dense smoke emanating from the house. Upon arrival, firefighters were informed by a man outside the burning structure that his brother remained inside.
Firefighters proceeded to enter the premises, where they discovered Phillip’s lifeless body. An autopsy report released by the coroner’s office on June 20 indicated that Phillip succumbed to burns covering 98% of his body, and his death was classified as an accident.
The report also noted other significant factors contributing to Phillip’s death, including chronic ethanolism and his status as a smoker. According to the chief, firefighters managed to quickly bring the fire under control and extinguish it. He stated that foul play is not suspected, and an investigation into the fire’s cause is currently underway.
