John F Canney Obituary, Death; – The individual who was struck and fatally injured by an MBTA train in Cohasset on Saturday morning has been named. John F. Canney, aged 78, from Cohasset, was confirmed by the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office as the deceased.
Canney was operating a pickup truck at the Beechwood Street railroad crossing at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Saturday when he was hit by an MBTA commuter rail train, as reported by the Cohasset Police Department. Authorities stated that Canney was pronounced dead at the scene, and his vehicle — a 2015 GMC — was completely destroyed in the incident.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, according to the district attorney’s office. This marks the second fatal incident involving an MBTA commuter rail train within a span of four days. On Wednesday, April 30, a woman lost her life after her SUV was driven onto the Commuter Rail train tracks in Abington, resulting in a collision with the train, as per official reports.
