Jiveston Hebert Obituary, Death; – The Church Point Police Department has released the name of the person killed in a shooting, and a manhunt is underway for the suspect. The victim is identified as Jiveston Hebert, 38.
Calvin Scott, 26, of Church Point, is wanted on charges of second-degree murder, illegal carrying of a weapon by a convicted felon, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
Authorities said the shooting happened on North Wilson Street off West Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and Hebert was taken to Acadia St. Landry Hospital on Monday, July 7, around 8 p.m., where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators urged anyone with information on Scott’s whereabouts to contact the Church Point Police Department at 337-684-5455 or their local law enforcement agency. They added Scott has a history of weapons violations and aggravated assault with firearms.
