Jevario Buie Obituary, Death; – A 14-year-old boy, described as “goofy” and known for his “infectious smile,” was discovered deceased near railroad tracks, while the individual accused of his murder remained at large for several months, according to Florida authorities.
Recently, 15-year-old Jahmir Moore has been charged with first-degree murder, possession of a concealed firearm, tampering with physical evidence, and being a minor in possession of a firearm, as stated by Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw during a news conference on December 5. Moore is alleged to have fatally shot 14-year-old Jevario Buie on the afternoon of April 17, leaving him to succumb to his injuries near the train tracks. Jasmine Baldwin, Buie’s mother, expressed her anguish, stating, “I’ve been living in a nightmare since I lost my son.
And now I can feel a little bit of closure, thanks to the detectives. I know who, now. Now, I just need to know why.” Chief Bercaw indicated that Buie was “lured” to the location, although the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Prior to the incident, surveillance footage reportedly showed Moore and Buie walking towards a dead end close to where Buie was later found. Shortly thereafter, footage captured Moore alone, according to police reports.
The chief also mentioned that a third individual seen in the video has yet to be identified. In the lead-up to Moore’s arrest, detectives uncovered social media messages from him that contained details about the incident that had not been made public. Michael Baldwin, Buie’s grandfather, remarked, “I want Jevario to be remembered as this goofy, giggling 14-year-old kid who loved football, loved teasing his sisters and was very protective of his mom.” U.S. Marshals and local police apprehended Moore on December 4, and he is being charged as an adult, as confirmed by the State Attorney’s Office.
