Jessie Lee Turner Obituary, Death; – The Athens Police Department has apprehended a woman believed to be responsible for the fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Saturday night.
Officers responded to the scene at the intersection of U.S. 72 E and French Farms Blvd, near Walmart, shortly after 10 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, 38-year-old Jessie Lee Turner, deceased in the roadway.
Detectives initiated an investigation, which included gathering evidence, examining nearby surveillance footage, and pursuing leads provided by the public. By Monday, detectives successfully identified the vehicle involved in the incident and traced the driver. The vehicle was found in the Hazel Green area.
The driver, identified as 38-year-old Kimberly Hurth, was located later that evening and brought in for questioning. After the interview, Hurth was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident resulting in Injury or Death.
Hurth has since been released from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
