Jeremy Jamal Ware Obituary, Death; 2 teens arrested, 1 wanted in Lake Charles robbery turned deadly

Jeremy Jamal Ware Obituary, Death; – The Lake Charles Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in locating a third suspect involved in a fatal shooting on Rena Street, following the arrest of two individuals.

Deputy Chief Kevin Kirkum reported that officers responded to a shooting incident in the 1800 block of Rena Street at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, September 13. Upon arrival, they learned that the victim, identified as 29-year-old Jeremy Jamal Ware, had sustained gunshot wounds and was en route to the hospital. Unfortunately, Ware later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators discovered that three individuals had attempted to rob Ware at his home, which led to the shooting. On Wednesday, September 18, at around 9:50 a.m., the Lake Charles Police SWAT Team apprehended 17-year-old Walter Curtis, Jr. at his residence, located near the scene of the incident.

He has been charged with robbery involving a firearm and is currently held at the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center with a bond set at $100,000. Subsequently, on Tuesday, September 24, a 16-year-old was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

The Lake Charles Police are now requesting the public’s help in finding the third suspect, Maalik Marquese Brignac, also known as “Meezy,” aged 17. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for first-degree murder, and he is considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Brignac’s whereabouts or the shooting to reach out to Detective Tre Mixon at 337-491-1311 or to submit an anonymous tip through the Lake Charles PD app.
