Jennifer Harris Obituary, Death; – The manager of a McDonald’s in Eastpointe, who was fatally stabbed on Thursday following a dispute with another employee, has been recognized as a single mother of six.

Jennifer Harris, 39, has been named by her family as the McDonald’s manager who was killed on Thursday morning. Known affectionately as ‘Jamma’, Harris had dedicated 15 years of her life to working at McDonald’s, as stated by her family.

The background: Michigan State Police reported that they were summoned to the McDonald’s on 9 Mile due to reports of gunfire and a stabbing on Thursday morning. Upon their arrival, they discovered a customer wielding a firearm, while Harris had sustained stab wounds.

According to MSP, the other employee involved had been sent home early after an altercation with Harris. This employee later returned armed with a knife and attacked Harris, as reported by the police.

During the incident, a customer in the McDonald’s drive-through, who witnessed the attack, discharged a firearm into the air to interrupt the confrontation. Fortunately, no one was injured. The assailant attempted to escape the scene, but the customer pursued her and held her at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.

Harris was transported to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.

The customer who intervened was a holder of a concealed pistol license, and police acknowledged that his actions prevented the suspect from fleeing. Authorities believe that without his intervention, they would still be searching for the woman.

What is being said: Harris’ eldest daughter mentioned that the two employees had maintained a friendly relationship prior to the attack on Thursday morning.

Another eyewitness to the assault recounted that the suspect had left the premises for five minutes before returning with a mask covering her face.

“She began stabbing her, and I ran for help, essentially calling out to everyone, ‘help, help’ or something similar,” the witness recounted. “I attempted to intervene, but there was no stopping her. She stabbed her repeatedly.”]} }}

The McDonald’s is a locally-owned and operated franchise. Owner Yusef Alcodray released a statement, condemning the violence.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones. Violence of any kind is unacceptable in my restaurants, and we are taking this matter extremely serious, as the safety and well-being of our employees and customers is our top priority. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation, and the restaurant will remain closed until further notice.” – Yusef Alcodray, Local Owner/Operator

Eastpointe police said the suspect is a 26-year-old woman but did not release more details.
