Jeiver Pozuelos Cervantes Obituary, Death; – Two men are facing charges after police say they killed a 38-year-old Hyattsville man last year.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers were flagged down near Veterans Parkway and Riverdale Road shortly before 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2024, for reports of an unconscious man found on the side of the road.
Investigators determined the unresponsive man had been shot and he was pronounced dead by first responders. The man was later identified as 38-year-old Jeiver Pozuelos Cervantes from Hyattsville.
More than six months later, police charged two men in connection to Cervantes’s death. Jose Guardado-Orellana, 33, Santiago De La O Lemus, 30, are both charged with second-degree murder and other related charges.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested De La O Lemus in South Carolina in December 2024, and Guardado-Orellana was taken into custody on May 12 by the PGPD’s Fugitive Unit, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Investigators claim the two men killed Cervantes while trying to rob him. Both are currently in the custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
