Jeanette Johnson Obituary, Death; An 89-year-old Maryland woman who died after being hit by a pickup in the Newark Shopping Center has been identified by city police as Jeanette Johnson .
Johnson, of North East, Maryland, was crossing the center’s parking lot, heading toward the storefronts, when police said she was struck by a pickup truck traveling through the lot about 9:30 a.m. on May 14.
Arriving officers rendered aid before she could be taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Johnson died in the overnight hours, police said. The pickup driver has not been charged but police said the crash remains under review by investigators and the Delaware Attorney General’s Office.
