Jaylan Sharp,Billy Gipson Obituary, Death; – A 16-year-old and a 25-year-old were tragically shot and killed on Sunday night during a dispute over a rifle, as stated in court documents.
Marquavius Hunt, aged 17, has been charged with capital murder for the deaths of the two individuals involved in the altercation, according to an arrest warrant affidavit reviewed by The Dallas Morning News. Authorities determined that the group had engaged in a confrontation prior to the shooting after examining surveillance footage from a residence located in the 8400 block of Asheville Lane in Fort Worth, as indicated in the affidavit.
Hunt, along with Jaylan Sharp, 25, and Billy Gipson, 16, were conversing when Sharp began to flee, according to the affidavit. Gipson pursued Sharp towards a residence on Asheville Lane. He then drew a rifle and fired at Sharp while they were positioned between vehicles in the driveway of the house, as stated in the affidavit.
Following Gipson’s gunfire directed at Sharp, a struggle ensued over the rifle as Hunt approached. Hunt subsequently discharged his weapon at both individuals multiple times, as reported by the police in the affidavit.
Officers responded to the scene around 8:45 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire, according to the affidavit. Upon arrival, they discovered Sharp in the driveway, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Gipson was transported to the intersection of Risinger Road and Carolina Drive and was dropped off by a white pickup truck, according to police. The vehicle was later found by law enforcement with Hunt and two other individuals inside.
Gipson was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he later died. Hunt is currently being held at the Tarrant County Corrections Center, with no bond information available at this time. This incident marks one of three fatal shootings that occurred in Fort Worth on Father’s Day.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., another shooting took place in the 3000 block of Conejos Drive, where authorities discovered a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and torso, according to police. As reported by law enforcement, a 19-year-old male was killed, and two others were injured.
