James Spencer Obituary, Death; – The identity of a man who lost his life in a traffic accident on I-25 the day prior to Thanksgiving has been confirmed.

As reported by the El Paso County Coroner, the deceased individual was 81-year-old James Spencer. Spencer died in a collision that resulted in the closure of both northbound and southbound lanes of I-25 for several hours on Wednesday, November 27.

The incident occurred while Spencer was exchanging information with another driver after both had been involved in an accident in the northbound lanes of I-25, specifically at the CO 105 exit near Monument. Following the initial collision, both drivers had moved their vehicles to the far left median.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, while the exchange of information was taking place, a pickup truck traveling at a high speed struck the vehicles parked on the left-hand shoulder. This impact caused the parked vehicles to collide with Spencer, propelling him over the median into the southbound lanes of I-25, where he was subsequently struck by southbound traffic, resulting in his death.

The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is currently investigating the incident. Witnesses or individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact the Colorado State Patrol at 719-544-2424.
