Jacob Martinez Obituary, Death;- The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has officially disclosed the identity of the individual believed to be the victim of a suspected road rage homicide.
Jacob Martinez, aged 35, was struck by a suspect on July 24, according to police reports. CSPD indicates that the suspect fled the scene of the incident.
On the day the event occurred, surveillance footage captured Martinez exiting his vehicle and standing in the roadway, only to be run over by the other vehicle, which then drove away. Martinez succumbed to his injuries three days later at the hospital, as reported by the police.
Two weeks prior, CSPD identified and apprehended the suspect, 39-year-old Daniel Nations. Investigators located him in possession of the vehicle involved in the collision, according to police statements.
Nations has a significant criminal history, as indicated by official records. In 2017, he received a three-year probation sentence for threatening individuals with what appeared to be a weapon along Mount Herman Road in Monument. Additionally, he was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm as a prior offender in Woodland Park that same year.
Furthermore, Nations is also a registered sex offender, following reports from local media that he exposed himself and engaged in sexual acts in a Walmart parking lot in South Carolina in 2006.
