Jackie Monk Arrested; – An arrest has been made following the discovery of a deceased woman at a Motel 8 in Jasper on Wednesday, as reported by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Jackie Monk, identified by the Hamilton County Jail as a resident of Lowndes County, Georgia, was apprehended that same day without any resistance and charged with second-degree murder, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office on Thursday.
His arrest occurred after the sheriff’s office dispatch received a call on Wednesday evening indicating that a woman had been shot, as stated by deputies. Deputies subsequently responded to the Motel 8, situated at 7928 State Road 6 West in Jasper, as per the sheriff’s office.
Upon their arrival, the HCSO reported that deputies executed “a tactical entry” into one of the motel rooms, where they discovered a woman deceased alongside Monk. An investigation indicated that the victim and Monk were acquainted, according to the sheriff’s office.
As of Thursday afternoon, the identity of the victim has not been disclosed in compliance with Marsy’s Law, according to HCSO.
Shortly thereafter, the man from Lowndes County was taken into custody without incident and subsequently transported to the Hamilton County Jail, as revealed in the sheriff’s office press release.
The body of the victim has been sent to the Duval County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
