Isaiah Mathieu Obituary, Death; – Authorities have indicated that excessive speed played a role in a fatal accident involving a 20-year-old on I-95 in Benton on Sunday. Maine State Police reported that they were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident at approximately 4:20 p.m. near mile marker 134 on the northbound side of I-95 in Benton.
According to law enforcement, the driver, identified as Isaiah Mathieu, 20, from Clinton, was unable to successfully navigate a curve in the road, resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway and colliding with a guardrail. Following the impact with the guardrail, the 2004 Chevy Trax incurred significant damage before coming to rest in a ditch adjacent to the tree line.
Tragically, Mathieu was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have stated that speed and the inability to properly navigate the roadway are significant factors contributing to the incident. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
