Hugo Guzman Lopez Obituary, Death;- Authorities have identified the man killed in a head-on crash earlier this week on Sheep Creek Road as 43-year-old Hugo Guzman Lopez, a resident of Adelanto.
The deadly crash happened at about 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, near the intersection of Sheep Creek and Chevoit roads. As previously reported by VVNG, the collision involved a silver Nissan Versa and a dark-colored Chevrolet Suburban, with the SUV overturning and the sedan sustaining major front-end damage.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Lopez was traveling northbound in the Nissan when the Suburban, traveling southbound, crossed into the opposing lane and struck his vehicle head-on. Lopez was found trapped inside his vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. He was the only person inside the sedan.
The driver of the SUV suffered what officials described as minor injuries and declined transportation to a hospital. CHP said alcohol or drugs were not suspected as contributing factors, and the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Officer A.
