Herman Kilbourne III Obituary, Death; – Louisiana State Police are conducting an investigation following an incident in which a man was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking along the highway.
The victim has been identified as Herman Kilbourne III, a 50-year-old resident of Morgan City. The incident occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, on LA 19, just north of Carruth Road in East Feliciana Parish.
According to the Louisiana State Police, a 2016 Infiniti Q60 was traveling southbound on LA 19 when, for reasons that are still being investigated, the vehicle collided with Kilbourne, who was walking in the northbound lane.
Authorities reported that Kilbourne sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, did not sustain any injuries, as stated by officials.
Routine toxicology samples were collected from both the pedestrian and the driver for further analysis. It was noted that Kilbourne was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
