Harmanpreet Singh Obituary, Death; – The Fresno Police Department has confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life following a shooting incident outside a restaurant in Fresno on Tuesday, as well as the identification of the suspect involved.
The deceased has been named by authorities as 29-year-old Harmanpreet Singh. Police reported that just prior to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were dispatched in response to reports of gunfire occurring outside a restaurant and bar situated at the intersection of Ashlan and West Avenues.
As officers were arriving at the scene, 28-year-old Lovepreet Singh contacted 911, claiming he had been involved in a disturbance at the restaurant and had discharged a firearm. Lovepreet expressed his willingness to surrender to the police upon their arrival, according to law enforcement. Officers located Lovepreet, took him into custody, and discovered he was in possession of a semi-automatic weapon.
Upon returning to the restaurant, officers found Harmanpreet lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Emergency medical services transported him to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Homicide detectives were dispatched to the scene and determined that Lovepreet and Harmanpreet, both residents of Modesto, were acquaintances attending a celebration at the restaurant.
Witnesses reported that Lovepreet brandished a handgun and shot Harmanpreet in the upper body while in the parking lot. As Lovepreet fled the scene, he also fired at another individual but missed.
