Hannah Tanui,Jan Tanui Obituary, Death; – The Wichita Police Department has confirmed the identities of two individuals who lost their lives in a murder-suicide incident on Sunday. The deceased are 21-year-old Hannah Tanui and 26-year-old Jan Tanui, both residents of Wichita.
According to police reports, officers from the Patrol East Bureau were alerted around 3:40 a.m. by a person who indicated that a man had unlawfully entered their home in the 800 block of South Edgemoor while armed with a handgun. It was reported that the suspect was inside the residence with his ex-wife and had made statements indicating suicidal intentions.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to establish contact but received no reply. The Wichita Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were subsequently deployed, yet they were unable to initiate communication.
Later that morning, SWAT personnel entered the residence and found both the suspect and the victim deceased from “non-survivable gunshot wounds.”
