Hailee Vlach Obituary, Death; – A woman has lost her life following a rollover accident that occurred early Tuesday morning in rural Merrick County.
At approximately 6 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle incident near the intersection of 7th and Ormsby roads, located a few miles east of Worms. Upon arrival, authorities found a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck that had overturned.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the westbound vehicle veered across the center lane, entered the southern ditch, struck an embankment, and subsequently rolled over, according to Sheriff John Westman.
The driver, a 32-year-old man from Palmer, sustained minor injuries in the incident. Tragically, his passenger, identified as 23-year-old Hailee Vlach from Palmer, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff Westman noted that neither seatbelts were worn nor airbags deployed during the crash. The involvement of alcohol or drugs remains uncertain, and the investigation is still active as of Tuesday afternoon.
Merrick County deputies received support from the Nebraska State Patrol, Chapman Fire and Rescue, and the Grand Island Fire departments during their response.
